Frustration

Have I mentioned that I am impatient? I hate waiting. Once I make a decision I want to get going. I'm the type of person who doesn't cut her hair for years then one day just decides it's time and helds to the nearest salon and takes whoever is available(not the smartest idea, trust me...)

Yes, I have my pre-op testing scheduled, so why am I frustrated? I don't have a surgery date...argh. They won't schedule surgery until after all the testing is done, and I have a physical exam. The exam is schedule for the 26th, so I won't get a date until after that. As part of the process I also have to go to an all day nutrition class, I just called the center and they won't schedule that until I have a surgery date. I asked how long is it usually is between when people take the class and there surgery and she said 2-3 weeks... double argh.

So I won't even know the date of surgery until May, and then it may not be till the end of may or june. How can I have pre-op testing in April and surgery a month or more later? If you are reading along can you tell me how long was it between your pre-op testing and surgery?

I know it really isn't that long to wait, but have I mentioned I'm impatient?  I just want a date.  Ok pity party over for today.

  1. I am a big believer in instant gratification ....maybe that's how I got to 300lbs?? I totally feel your pain on the waiting game. I had a 6 month wait for ins, then switched ins companies and had to wait two months for approval.

Because of my 6 months I did all my testing and classes, so I can't really be helpful in giving you a time frame. Just take this time to 'practice' being a bandster. Separate your food from liquids, chew your food a lot, put down your fork in between bits. I know this will not help it go any faster, but it may help to be better prepared!

  2. I'm still waiting to get to your spot, but I think mine is 10 days between. You do your pre op testing on Friday, come the next Wednesday to do second consult with the surgeon and to start the liquid per-op diet and then get banded the following Wednesday. I think they run it in "classes" so there will be a group of us that are all done the same day. I hope things move quickly for you!

  3. It is soooo hard to wait! I have been waiting for over a year to get my surgery....so I am right there with you. It's like you want to look at the phone and your e-mail every 10 minutes to make sure you have missed anything!

  4. Thanks for the support/sympathy. It's nice to know I'm not the only impatient person. If they told me the surgery will be in June I'd be ok with it, it's just the not knowing part. the waiting for the date. Once I have a date I'll just focus on getting to then.

Morgan: I have started some "band practice". I'll write about that soon.

Sara: My dr doesn't require a pre-op diet, just the day before surgery is liquid.

Megan: So funny, I call home every day at least once (sometimes more) to check and see is they called.

  5. I just found your blog... I had a lapband installed in March of 2010, I got 1/2 way through my journey and now I am working at being revised to the Gastric Bypass to get the rest of the way to goal. I am happy to be a new follower. *Maria*~DiZneDiVa:Blogger from "This One Time at Band Camp... 1 vs 300" Follow my journey at mybigfatbandgeeklife.blogspot.com
