Feeling Almost Normal

Tomorrow will be a week since surgery and I'm felling pretty good. Able to get in the fluids and protein required. I'll post about my surgery and hospital stay soon. I'm really glad I was able to stay over night. Since tomorrow is a holiday I don't have to go back to work until Tues, and even then I'm working from home :)

First couple of days I had to force myself to "eat" and drink. Now my appetite is starting to come back. I'm actually getting hungry sometimes. My diet is three 2oz "meals" (full liquids) plus protein shakes for supplementation. I'm supposed to get 75gm protein in each day, and 64-80oz fluids. So in between my "meals" I'm basically drinking shakes/water/isopure drinks. I can also have as much SF jello, broth and SF popsicles I want. Of course, can only eat/drink a couple of oz any one time, hence the continuous drinking.

Tues I can start in with real foods, and I can't wait. Will start with more mushy things tuna/chicken salad, eggs. I will still be restricted on some things, but there are a lot of options.

  1. Hello new followers here and also newly banded. Mine was last Wednesday. Glad your doing well, my appetite came back today a bit. It was wierd...can't tell if hunger pains or as pains.

  3. I"m glad I'm not the only one trying to figure out what the noises mean! I'm not sure I ever heard true hunger pains before, so I'm not really sure what anything means. I'm glad you are feeling better! I was always horrible with drinking fluids, and find that I'm the same way now. NOWHERE near where I need to be. I'm in awe of those of you who can.

  5. I was super duper growly for the first two weeks, my surgeon said that it was just my stomach trying to 'shake off' the band. Like a dog with a collar, eventually it gets used to it and stops. Now I only growl when I eat a little too much.

I am so happy that you are feeling well and getting ready to move on to 'real' food!!!

  6. I'm so happy I found you! I'll have my surgery on June 27th so you're the closest yet to my surgery, so it'll be fun to compare/follow/chat with... keep posting stuff for my sake anyways :) Cheers!
